Cue the Hallelujah Chorus!

yaaay! I finally allowed myself to start seeds! Now I'm happy < huge grin>  I spent the last couple days planting peppers, tomatoes, and marigolds.... and making 170 individual little labels to keep track of what is planted where.

I know it's crazy to label every little seed, but last year my group labeling didn't work because other people felt at liberty to jostle my flats around and pull up seedlings and put them in new pots without knowing what they were or telling me where they put them. SO this year I labeled every individual pot and nobody is allowed to do anything without telling me (let's see how well this works!)

<--my labeling and planting operation setup

As I said before, we're going with mostly heirloom seeds this year, which also makes me happy. Part of the reason I'm being careful about keeping things labeled is because we're trying to decide which varieties of what veggies work best for our particular needs. It didn't help that the seed co was out of some of the varieties we wanted to try, but we're making do. There's always next year to try those, right? ;)
So here's the varieties I've started so far:
Peppers:
Anaheim (5)
Purple Jalapeño (5)
California Wonder (50)
Total: 60 peppers

Tomatoes:
Arkansas Traveler (25)
Rutger* (10)
Henderson's Pink Ponderosa (3)
Early Girl hybrid* (20)
Amish Paste (25)
Beefsteak (2)
Roma (25)
Tomato total: 110
 (*= not heirloom :( )

True story: When I have all my jiffy pots laid out in their trays and filled with soil, people always think, upon first glance, that it is a tray full of brownies. Too funny!

Sheesh...you had a regular factory going there. I like how you made the labels...and great idea to recycle plastic containers. Good work! Here's to having enough tomatoes to swim in!
